Matt's practice focuses on estate planning, business law, and tax. With his working knowledge of the gift tax, estate tax, and generation-skipping tax, he has drafted all types of trusts, formed all types of business entities, and implemented plans to lawfully minimize the impact of federal taxation, including simple wills, revocable A/B trusts, grantor retained annuity trusts (GRATs), qualified personal residence trusts (QPRTs), family limited partnerships (FLPs), irrevocable life insurance trusts (ILITs), generation-skipping trusts, charitable remainder trusts, and family foundations. His clients are couples and individuals, ranging from those who are just getting started to those who are planning their final legacy (and everything in between).
Matt also has worked on significant mergers and acquisitions representing both the seller and buyer. As a result, he is familiar with the many aspects of corporate deals, including federal taxation, securities law, state corporate law, due diligence, and contract negotiation. In addition, he assists business owners in choosing a business entity and developing a succession plan through buy-sell agreements and deferred compensation plans.
Matt is fluent in Spanish and welcomes the opportunity to work with Hispanic clients in addressing their business and personal planning matters.
