Ms. Smith has almost 20 years experience in a variety of areas of white collar criminal defense, including tax fraud, securities fraud, embezzlement, and Medicare fraud. She also has extensive experience in representing and assisting companies in conducting internal investigations, as well as participating as an impartial internal investigator. In addition, she is familiar with the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, which are used in many white collar crime cases.
Ms. Smith published white collar crimes articles, including authoring an article entitled: Precluding Use of a Co-Defendant's Civil Deposition in a Joint Criminal Trial, Complex Crimes Journal,
Ms. Smith also has tried numerous cases involving civil litigation and white collar criminal defense, including: State v Strieby, 790 P.2d 98 (Utah App. 1990); and CIG Exploration, Inc. v. State, 24 P.3d 966 (Utah 2001).
